Marriage Biodata Examples, Section by Section

The quickest way to write a good biodata is to read a few good ones. Below are complete examples — and the individual lines that make them work — for the sections people actually struggle with: the About, the family details, and partner preferences. Adapt anything here to your own biodata.

A complete example — girl's biodata

Ananya Deshpande

UX Designer · Pune

Personal: DOB 18 August 1997, Pune · 5'3" · Hindu · Rashi: Tula

Education & Career: B.Des, MIT Pune · UX designer at a fintech startup, Pune

About: Calm, creative, and happiest with a sketchbook or a trek trail. Weekdays are design sprints; weekends are family lunches and badminton. Vegetarian by choice.

Family: Father — retired bank manager; Mother — school principal; younger sister studying law in Mumbai.

Looking for: Someone curious and kind, settled in Pune or Mumbai, who values family time as much as ambition.

Contact: [one clear point of contact]

A complete example — boy's biodata

Faisal Khan

Civil Engineer · Lucknow

Personal: DOB 4 January 1995, Lucknow · 5'10" · Muslim (Sunni)

Education & Career: B.Tech Civil, AMU · Site engineer with an infrastructure firm, Lucknow · ₹9 LPA

About: Steady and soft-spoken; prays regularly and spends free evenings with my nephews or at cricket nets. Building a home of our own is the five-year plan.

Family: Father — retired PWD engineer; Mother — homemaker; elder sister married, in Delhi.

Looking for: An educated, practising match who wants a simple nikah and a joint-family start.

Contact: [one clear point of contact]

Notice what both examples do: every claim is specific, the religious details match how each family actually lives, and nothing is padded. On Riishta, the form adapts the same way — the fields follow your religion, and anything left blank stays off the page.

About-section lines you can adapt

  • “Software engineer by profession, cook by enthusiasm — my biryani has family approval, my code has fewer reviews.”
  • “Quiet until the topic is books or cricket. I value routines: morning walks, work done well, Sunday calls with grandparents.”
  • “Teaching is my profession and my nature — patient, organised, and good with people of every age.”
  • “Ambitious about work, old-fashioned about family — I want both dinner-table laughter and a growing career.”

Partner-preference lines that sound human

  • “Someone who values honesty and can laugh at a bad day — city and profession matter less than temperament.”
  • “An educated, working partner who wants us both to keep growing; willing to relocate for the right match.”
  • “A practising, family-oriented match; we'd like the families to feel like one home, not two camps.”

Do this, avoid that

Do

  • Write the About in your own voice, then read it aloud once
  • Keep one line per family member — who, what, where
  • State age, height, education and city where they're found at a glance
  • Use one good recent photo you actually like

Avoid

  • Stock phrases — “homely”, “well-settled”, “broad-minded” — with nothing behind them
  • Preference lists that read like eligibility criteria
  • Ten-year-old or heavily filtered photos
  • Cramming two pages of detail into what should be one

Put your example into a design

Frequently asked questions

Can I copy these biodata examples?+

Yes — adapt any line here freely. The fastest route is to open the Riishta form, pick a template, and shape these examples around your own details; the design and layout are handled for you.

What should the About section of a biodata say?+

Two to four sentences in a natural voice: how you'd describe yourself to a family friend, what your days look like, and one or two genuine interests. Skip adjectives you couldn't back up in conversation.

How long should a marriage biodata be?+

One page. Families skim biodatas in under a minute — a single well-ordered page with name, age, height, education, career, family and contact answers everything a longer document would.

Should the biodata include a photo?+

Almost always, yes — one good, recent, well-lit portrait. Riishta's free plan includes photos, and paid plans allow a small gallery if the family wants more.

Are these examples different for girls and boys?+

The structure is identical; only emphasis shifts with what each family wants to say. We keep dedicated walkthroughs for both — see the format-for-girl and format-for-boy guides linked below.
